Windows Vista is one operating system that comes with a lot of brilliant features. However, the bad part is that these excellent features slow down the system considerably. 1. Turn off the feature of Search Indexing

To do that you would need to click on “Start” button and select “Computer.” Then you should right-click on your primary drive and click on the “General” tab. Here you would see an option by the name “Index this drive for faster searching”; you should uncheck this option. Uncheck also the box saying “Include subfolders and files.” After this Click “OK”.

2. Turn off the Automatic disk-defragmentation

To do that Click on Start–>Computer and then right click on your primary drive. Click then on properties. Select Tools–>Defragment Now. Remove “Run on a schedule” checkmark and Click “OK”. You can run this utility manually every 2-3 weeks or so.

3.  Stop the Windows Defender

To do so click on Start–>Control Panel–>Windows Defender–>Tools–>Options. From the screen which pops up, eliminate checkmark which is next to “Auto Start”.

4. Turning off Windows Hibernation

That can be done by clicking on Start–>Control Panel–>Power Options–>Change plan settings. A new window will open and you should then select “Change Advanced Power Settings”. Next click the “Sleep selection” & select “Hibernate After.” The slider should then be brought to zero and then click the “Apply” button.

5. Disable User Access Control

Vista asks every now and then your permission as you click anything. You can disable this feature by following the below steps: Open up Control Panel, and type in “UAC” into the search box. You’ll see a link for “Turn User Account Control (UAC) on or off” then on the next screen you should uncheck the box for “Use User Account Control (UAC)”, and then click on the OK button.

    Will these be applicable for Windows 7 as well or only for Windows Vista? Speeding up will really help laptop and PC to provide quicker and faster job. This will help me a lot but as I mentioned I need an updated one in Windows 7.
