Since the child takes his first footstep, parents find themselves burdened with the responsibility of teaching their little ones where to pee pee. Luckily for iPhone and iPad families, apps such as “Potty Training” have taken up the responsibility.
“Potty Training: Learning with the Animals” is an absolutely adorable app available in the App Store for young parents. The whole experience with cute animated animals, is a beautiful, interactive experience. The app is child-friendly, hence you will have nothing to worry about.
How Potty Training App Works
The app narrates to the little girls and boys in a simple and understandable way. The incorporation of animals, increases the cuteness quotient of the app. The app essentially conveys to the young kids and baby animals, that it is potty time, when they feel ‘butterflies’ in their tummies. In my opinion, this is the perfect way to explain to the kids when they need to go potty.
Having explained the concept of “Potty Time” the little animals and children in the app are seen to experience the same butterflies in their tummy. So now that you know it’s time to potty, with a tap on the screen you can let your young ones escort their little friends to the toilet.
The Settings
Once you start the app, a beautiful farm brightens up the screen. The animated setting features a little boy and a little girl along with their animal friends. They greet you with open hearts full of warmth.
The Narration
Having entered the farm and meeting new friends, the user is asked whether he or she is growing from a baby to a big girl or boy? The app then prompts you choose an animal. These animals, position themselves in a hilarious way and closely accurate to the way kids stand when they need to visit the toilet. The expressions and their body language are genuinely and absolutely funny.
Potty Time
When you tap at each child or animal, their tummies will release little cute butterflies, increasing the animated kids’ anxiety to visit the toilets. However, the characters are only going to experience absolute relief when the user taps on the green arrow, marked potty.
The animated character will then walk across the screen to the toilet and sit down. Now the users will have to assume that the animal is doing his or her job in the toilet.
Pros of the Potty Training App
On the plus side, the app is excellently designed. With colorful animations, beautiful characters, simple yet incredible narration, terrific sound quality, the app is a success and receives everyone’s attention, especially the young kids.
Potty Training is made more fun and interactive because the app talks directly to the users. Just like Dora, the app and the animals in the app request the user for their help in tapping the right area of the screen to help them go to the toilet and do their business.
The app only trains the kids on how to identify when they need to use the toilet. It maintains the decency of the matter and does not play any sounds regarding the toilet or the flush. Besides the animated kids are also seen sitting on the toilet entirely clothed.
Cons of the Potty Training App
There are always two sides to a coin, and so with this app. The drawbacks of the app essentially revolve around the fact that there are only 5 animals on the farm landscape. I personally believe that involving a few more characters would have a greater impact on the kids.
Another well considered drawback for the app would be the little boy character who carries his toy to the toilet. In most families that I know, kids are not allowed to carry their toys into the washrooms. Hence, if this small error could be rectified the app would reach the level of flawlessness.
Potty Training App – My Verdict
In my personal opinion, modern parents are so busy chasing deadlines and attending meetings that they do not find enough time to dedicate to their children to give them potty training. However, the Potty Training app provides a platform where the little ones can learn the whole process of recognition and imitation in a fun and interactive way.
