Apple Announces 2 New iPhones: iPhone 6, and iPhone 6 Plus

Months of rumors and finally, it’s official. The new iPhone 6 is here. Apple announces two thinner and larger screened smartphones –  the new iPhone 6 with 4.7 inch screen and the new iPhone 6 Plus with 5.5-inch screen.

The design is same as we already seen in the few leaks for the past few weeks.  Also, with the iPhone 6 announcement, Apple unveiled its first wearable device, Apple Watch. The Apple Watch have the capability of sending  your heartbeat to your friends through the digital touch app. The receiver will feel Apple Watch vibrate in sync with your heartbeat.

It was known that the new iPhone 6 would not follow the continuous line that Apple had maintained from the iPhone 4, and they finally changed the size for the new iPhones. With a very similar to the iPad outside, we’ve been here a few surprises , and the look is exactly the same as we have been coming through leaks in recent weeks.

The finish is aluminum and the top button moves to the side, just above the two volume keys (which, as a curiosity, become elongated instead of round). The phone itself is also fine : if the iPhone 5S was 7.6 mm, the iPhone 6 is 6.9 mm and the iPhone 6 Plus with 7.1 mm.

Larger screens

Another thing we already knew: the new iPhone 6 have larger screens. The iPhone 6 Normal has a panel of 4.7 inches and resolution of 1334×750 pixels, while the iPhone 6 Plus’ 5.5-inch display sports a resolution of 1920x1080p, both Retina HD.

For its size, the iPhone 6 Plus include any of the software improvements that we see in the iPad, designed for larger size screens. Among with these new features both iPhones will have a landscape mode.

A8 Processor

The new iPhone 6, is powered by the new A8 processor, and now it is up to 50% more energy efficient. We do not have many details about it, except that Apple itself has been featured in the presentation: 25% more power than the previous generation of iPhone and 50% better graphics also over the iPhone 5S.

All this without more battery consumption, and ensuring that 50% improved performance. iPhone 6 offered in a range of 11 to 12 hours of browsing and 14 hours of talk time and 24 hours of talk time respectively for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. If you follow news about Apple will also sound the M7 chip in the iPhone 5S included accelerometer, gyroscope and compass.

For the new iPhone 6, they featured M8 , a co-processor that is specifically related to Apple’s health-centric push, which is a slight improvement, and is a barometer has been added that allow you to measure elevation, such as tracking flights of stairs.

Camera

Since the company insisted that the new A8 processor is optimized to take full advantage of this lens. Regarding the video recording, Apple maintains its commitment to 1080p and they did not say anything about 4K. Apple shown a sample video that the presentation looked pretty spectacular, is in slow motion modes: 120 fps and 240 fps .

iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus now let you capture panoramas up to 43MP and offer blink and smile detection in burst mode, allowing the camera to recommend the most appropriate shot from the series. For selfie addicts users in mind, Apple has included the burst mode on the front camera with a 1.2 megapixel with a new sensor with the same f/2.2 aperture that records video in 720p.

Storage

16GB and 32GB options were available for the iPhone 5S. But for now the iPhone 6 will have 3 storage options including 16Gb, 64GB and 128GB. There will be no 32GB option available for the iPhone 6.

Mobile Payments: Apple Pay with NFC

Another feature that was most rumored and where Apple has finally decided to make the leap: mobile payments with Apple Pay . The two models of iPhone 6 include an NFC chip at the top, so that to pay in a shop that has a compatible terminal, just holding the phone, authenticate via Touch ID and go.

Since Apple have pretty stressed the issue of security, since credit cards are stored in Passbook. “We’re not in the business of collecting personal data.”  The company says it does not store transaction data nor the cards themselves. Among the advantages of the system point is that it is not necessary to give a plastic card to go pay as everything is managed from the phone itself.

Apple has teamed with American Express, Mastercard and Visa and says Apple Pay will work at more than 220,000 retailers nationwide. Apple has been working with companies like McDonald’s, Disney, Target, Subway, and Whole Foods to integrate its service as well.

Pricing and Availability

The new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 plus will hit the retail stores from September 26, 2014. While pricing details are not available, the unlocked version of the iPhone 6 will be available at a starting price of $649 (Rs 40,000 approximately) and iPhone 6 Plus will be available at a starting price of $749 (Rs 45,000 approximately). And according to Apple’s India website iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus will be available in India starting October 17, 2014.
